Paul Lawrence Vann - Author of Living on Higher Ground>
Developing Leaders is Your Key to Excellence
September 15, 2006
Laurel Wreath Bi-Monthly E-Newsletter By Laurel Wreath Publishing Issue: Vol.I No.2 Date: 9/15/2006 Quote "When you're in a leadership position if you don't develop leaders your chances for long-term success is deminished." -- Paul Lawrence Vann The reason leadership is such an important part of our professional life is because it gets more done, more efficiently. Leadership exponentially improves productivity even more so than additional funding or personnel. For example, if a person in a leadership position develops leaders rather than followers they ensure long-term success and viability for their company. Developing followers is an act of low self-esteem, the act of developing leaders is an act of trust. Trust builds confidence which in turn develop other leaders. A person in a leadership position must have credibility based on having been in the position of the developing leader. After all, we're the sum total of all of our leadership experiences. When you develop leaders, you care about them like a member of your family. Why? In the leadership position you're taking care of your organizational family. The bottom line is the reality, people don't care how much you know but rather how much you care about them. Once you develop other leaders, together you achieve the high calling of excellence. .........Paul Lawrence Vann, Laurel Wreath Publishing September is "Living the Life You Love" month.
