I recently delivered a speech to an enthusiastic audience
in Toronto, Canada in spupport of the Health & Safety
Canada 2007, IAPA Tradeshow and Convention.
Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the audience, I also
delivered my best speech, "Diversity - Inclusion Improves
Your Organization's Bottom Line."
That's just half the story, I also listened to the keynote
address presented by Chris Gardner, of the movie fame, "The
Pursuit of Happyness. Chris gave a dynamic speech and it
was certainly standing room only.
After his electric presentation I got in line and he
autographed his book for me and we chatted for a minute and
took a picture together. Why was this an important moment
for me?
Glad you asked. It was an important moment for me because I
had the opportunity to meet someone who had confronted the
obstacles and quicksand of life and overcame it.
Today, Chris Garnder is living the American Dream,
however many people are living the nightmare associated
with poverty and lack of opportunity in America.
The Pursuit of Happyness is a great model to follow in that
is teaches life lessons at the raw level which happens to
be poverty and homelessness. I highly recommend you read
the book and see the movie and I encourage you to help
those who cannot help themselves, it will make your life
even better.
