At a recent speaking engagement in Washington, DC, a
gentleman attending the event asked me why I did not use
the word God during my "Living Without Limits" speech.
I responded by saying, "When you speak on a military base
or post, you must sign a contract that includes a waiver
stating you will not use the word God during your speech."
The reason the gentleman asked me the question about using
the word God,is because I stated, "We must believe in
something greater than ourselves and serve it."
Signing a waiver stating I will not mention the word God
doesn't take away from my Faith in God. The fact of the
matter is, the policy and regulation office for the base
had written a bad policy and this could explain why our
country needs strong leader and allow people to free to say
what they want to say without signing a waiver to use the
word God in their speech.
I decided to deliver my speech, Living Without Limits
because it was more important that my message of hope reach
the audience. I do recommend if you are required to sign a
waiver stating you cannot use the word God in your speech,
it's a personal decision you must make.
As a former chief of policy, the base commander should
challenge the policy on the use of the word God during a
speech. I have discovered the U.S. government implemented
the ruling on the use of the word God on military bases and
include it in their contracts.
The bottom line is, we need new leadership in the U.S. and
they should start by doing away with the policy limiting
the use of the word God. Faith is about believing in an all
powerful God, life without God is not living at all.
Keep the Faith in spite of bad policies and you will live
your best life possible.
